‘Maggie’ Celebrates Her Vault into Kansas History

Today is Kansas Day, marking the admission of Kansas as the 34th state in the Union, on January 29, 1861.

StateSealWe’re also celebrating the fact that Maggie Vaults Over the Moon has found its place on the bookshelves of Kansas history.

The teen sports novel has been added to the Wulfmeyer Special Collections section of the Wichita Public Library.

The Wulfmeyer Special Collection contains books about Kansas pioneers and cowboys and others who shaped the bold history of the Sunflower State. The collection also includes the inspiring story of Maggie Steele, the gutsy farm girl from fictional Grain Valley, Kansas, who overcomes tragedy and soars to new heights through the daring sport of pole-vaulting. Help Maggie Vault Into Your Local Library!

'Maggie' has vaulted into the Southeast Kansas Library System, a 38 member consortium serving more than 150 public and school libraries.

‘Maggie’ is now available in the Southeast Kansas Library System, where the story is set. The author is seeking  your help to introduce the book to librarians everywhere.

Maggie Vaults Over the Moon has vaulted back home to Southeast Kansas via the Southeast Kansas Library System, making the novel available in some 150 public and school libraries in the same distinctive rural region where the story is set, in fictional Grain Valley, Kansas.

Now the author is asking Maggie fans to help her vault onto library bookshelves across the nation.

‘Maggie’ Vaults Into Wichita Public Schools!

Maggie Vaults Over the Moon has vaulted onto the library bookshelves at Wichita Public Schools — a thrilling feat for author Grant Overstake, who was born and raised in “The Air Capital City.”

The new teen sports novel also can be found at the Wichita Public Library and in many private school libraries in the city.

Maggie Vaults Over the Moon“I was really touched when I heard that school officials had read and endorsed Maggie’s story, and that my book was going to be available to so many students in my hometown,” said Overstake, who attended Buckner Elementary, Brooks Junior High, and Heights High School.

Maggie Vaults Over the Moon retells the story of Maggie Steele, a gutsy farm girl from tiny Grain Valley, Kansas, who pours her broken heart into the daring and sometimes dangerous sport of pole-vaulting. The story climaxes at the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championships, held each May at Cessna Stadium on the campus of Wichita State University. Continue reading

Maggie Vaults Over the Moon has found a place on the bookshelves of Kansas history.

The Kansas-based teen sports novel has been placed among the Kansas Reference books in the Wulfmeyer Special Collections (Lower Floor) of the Wichita Public Library. The special permanent collection consists of books about Kansas, or books by Kansas authors, including both fiction and non-fiction.

home_researchersThe collection features books on pioneers and cowboys, Kansas trail and railroad development, aviation history, agricultural history, and other subjects that shaped Kansas.
