Storybook Maggie Celebrates 7 Years Over the Moon!

Vaulters celebrated with Maggie at the Gold Medal Pole Vault Camp in Andale, Kan., 2013. Youngsters who were teens when the book was published are in their 20s today.

GRAIN VALLEY, Kan. — A lot has happened in the world of pole-vaulting in the past seven years, and storybook heroine Maggie Steele has been there.

Published Oct. 12, 2013, Maggie Vaults Over the Moon is a classic story in the pole-vault community.

Published October 12, 2012, the young adult novel, Maggie Vaults Over the Moon celebrates it’s 7th year today. The young adult novel has become the gold-medal story of the sport, earning praise for it’s positive message for young teens, especially girls.

“It’s amazing to think that youngsters who were 13 when the book came out are 20 today!” said author Grant Overstake.

LONDON — Maggie Steele, the world’s most inspiring storybook pole-vaulter, was an honored guest at Vault London 2014, held Sunday, Jan. 12th, at the David Weir Leisure in Carshalton, Surrey.

The invitation to attend the premier event came from Allan Williams, Senior Coach at The London Pole Vault Academy.

“It seems Maggie did inspire people,” Williams said, referring to the many personal bests recorded at the event.

Maggie says, “It was amazing to watch the great performances and feel the spirit of athleticism in Great Britain! The London Pole Vault Academy is certainly the place to be in terms of great facilities, great attitudes, and great coaching!”

Inspired by Video! Maggie Vaults Atlantic to Support Young Vaulters On the Isle of Man

Maggie is one her way to the Isle of Man to inspire young pole-vaulters.

Maggie Steele is eager to inspire youth pole-vaulters on the Isle of Man.

GRAIN VALLEY, Kan. — Storybook heroine Maggie Steele is on her way to the Isle of Man to encourage and support the return of youth pole-vaulting there.

The author was inspired by watching this video of coat-clad youngsters, braving the cold on the Isle of Man.

Copies of the inspirational novel, Maggie Vaults Over the Moon, are being sent to the intrepid youngsters on the beautiful British Isle, where despite frigid temperatures and inadequate equipment, they’re determined to follow their own dreams, over the moon.

“Seeing them bundled up in coats and scarves reminded me of Maggie and her passion for pole-vaulting,” Overstake said. “In my story, Maggie bundles up in multiple layers and vaults in freezing cold weather to achieve her goals. It’s obvious that they, too, have the tenacity and grit to become outstanding pole-vaulters.” Continue reading
