Tavia earned her latest Earphones Award for her “flawless” performance in collaboration with Paul Michael Garcia of The Word Exchange, by Alena Graedon. Earphones are awarded for “exceptional presentations that excel in narrative voice and style, vocal characterizations, appropriateness for the audio format, and enhancement of the text.”
In addition to the Earphones Award, Tavia is a six-time Audie Award Finalist and multiple Parent’s Choice Award winner. Library Journal said this highly-acclaimed actress is, “as close as you can get to a full cast narration with a solo voice.”
Next up for Tavia, who has narrated more than 250 multi-cast and single-voice audiobooks, is her performance and production of Maggie Vaults Over the Moon by Grant Overstake, to be released March 31st by BlackstoneAudio.
“I’m very proud indeed to be connected to a project that celebrates the best qualities of the wonderful character, Maggie, the healthy and realistic way she copes with grief and challenge, and her development as an athlete and a mature, grounded young woman,” Tavia said. “This is a very special story, and I look forward to bringing it to listening audiences.”
Overstake says, “Nothing could be more exciting for an author than to have Tavia Gilbert excited about performing their novel. It’s an honor and privilege. Tavia’s not only extremely talented, she’s a truly great human being who brings depth, skill and compassion to every performance.
“I can’t wait for the whole world to hear Tavia read Maggie’s story,” Overstake added. “It’s going to be great!”
In the novel, heroine Maggie Steele, a gritty farm girl from tiny Grain Valley, Kansas, overcomes tragedy by pouring her broken heart into the daring and dangerous sport of pole-vaulting. Driven by a secret that she dare not share with anyone, Maggie struggles over many obstacles as she attempts to soar waaay higher than her critics think a girl should ever go. Gripping in its portrayal of a teenager’s grief and thrilling in its vivid descriptions of the exciting sport of pole-vaulting, KIRKUS REVIEWS calls Maggie “A fine young adult novel about perseverance in sports and in life.”
Maggie is available in paper back and ebook at most online booksellers, including Amazon.com.
